About the Forever Home Run
The Forever Home Run began in 2015 as a partnership between Legacy Adoption Services (formerly Lutheran Adoption Service) and Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church to raise awareness and funding to support foster children waiting for their forever families. This year, the in-person, professionally timed run/walk will be hosted at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on October 4. This 5K course offers stunning fall views and a gentle winding path through beautiful Bloomfield Hills. There will also be activities offered on-site for children, families, and runners of all ages and skill levels. Our famed 1K Children’s Dress-up Dash is also back this year!
Safety continues to be our priority. If you are not able to travel to our event site this year or simply love the convenience of supporting this mission from a distance, we welcome you to join the race virtually! Our virtual option makes it possible for you to run a 5K course of your choice anywhere in Michigan from October 3rd – October 5th. Our participants were very creative last year -- racing on a treadmill, running laps around the block, and even walking the 5K with their pets! This year, you can map out your course and even form your own small team. Virtual participants can send race times to our leaderboard and have pictures added to our photo page. Local teams are already forming in your area!
Both the in-person and virtual race options are designed to fulfill our mission to raise much-needed funds that will benefit:
Children awaiting a forever family.
Existing LAS adoptive families.
Program enhancement and support to help a wide range of families.

The last couple of years have been especially challenging for families and children as a result of the pandemic. At Legacy Adoption Services, we have been so encouraged by all of your support! We have great resolve to carry our mission forward this year and beyond, and we are grateful for your involvement and the strength your varied contributions bring to help meet the needs of many exceptional children and families.
Forever Home Run funds are essential to these Legacy Adoption Services programs and offerings:
Clinical adoptive parent support groups, individual and family therapy, and additional post-adoption resources
Programming focused on unmatched children
Meeting specialized child and family needs in real-time
Flexibility for provisions that allow children opportunities to explore individual interests (sports, hobbies, camps, etc.) generally available to children outside of the child welfare system that build self-esteem, resilience, identity, and skills
